Kinder to the planet
From ingredient sourcing to production and packaging, we’re kinder to the planet at every step. Our journey to being as environmentally responsible as possible is never ending – we constantly improve our processes to save energy and resources wherever we can, from factory to sale. We use sustainably-sourced plant and mineral based ingredients over petrochemical ones wherever possible. We’ve also had our products independently tested to make sure you can use them if you have a septic tank or greywater system.

We carry out extensive in-house testing as well as large-scale consumer testing of our products to make sure our customers love them. Our products proudly carry the PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) Logo. PETA is currently the world’s largest animal rights organisation. In return for using their logo on our packaging we have signed their statement of assurance verifying that we do not conduct or commission any animal tests on ingredients, formulations, or finished products and pledge not to do so in the future.
You may know that ecostore exports to China, where testing for some cosmetics products made or sold in mainland China is required. Rest assured, any products we sell to Chinese customers are sold online, which means we’re not required to test them on animals. Our products won’t be available in physical stores in mainland China as long as animal testing is required there.
None of our plant-based ingredients come from genetically engineered/modified stock such as corn and wheat. While we’re strongly against GE field trials, we agree with organisations like Greenpeace that there’s a place for the ethical development of GE in laboratories, such as for the production of medicines like insulin or more recently for the production of enzymes.
The enzymes used in ecostore auto dish powders, dish tabs and laundry products are not themselves genetically modified; they are a by-product of genetically engineered bacteria. Many eco products use enzymes made this way because there are simply not enough naturally occurring enzymes to fill the demand.
We use a mix of recycled and recyclable materials in our packaging and strive to reduce waste wherever we can. One of our most recent innovations is the Carbon Capture Pak – sugarcane plastic bottles that help reduce your carbon footprint and are 100% recyclable.
